What is a woman?
Does she like flowers
Is she softer?
Does she nurture
Does she cook, does she clean?
Is she radiant like an electric storm in the sky
or grounded like a towering redwood
Do her emotions carry depths of the deep blue sea
Down into darkness, descend into secrets
With ugly things that have never seen the light
Slimy and blobish, they'd burst if surfaced
The shame lay buried in the deepest of trenches
Where only bizarre creatures call home
Do her waters swell like tides upon the beaches
Is she the wind beneath a plane's wings, or is she the violent storm
that rains hail and rips structures into a million pieces
Does she look after others even while she bleeds
or does she put herself first before everyone's needs
Does she dance
Will she play
With role models few and far between,
A woman walks a path overgrown and unseen
So today I ask you
What is a woman?
